Pax Christi USA is having their National Assembly/ National Gathering in BALTIMORE at the Double Tree Hotel near to the BWI Airport on August 12 to 14, 2016. This is the first time it will be held in Baltimore. The theme is: “Building the Beloved Community: Addressing the Signs of the Times With Bold Conversations Leading to Transformative Actions.” There will be plenary speakers and five break out sessions, and a public witness on Saturday afternoon in the Sandtown neighborhood in cooperation with the No Boundaries Coalition. The National Gathering will end on Sunday with a closing liturgy. Registration is $260 and includes Friday dinner/ reception, Saturday breakfast and box lunch, and Sunday breakfast. The mail in registration form can be found on the Pax Christi USA website. The deadline for registration at that rate is July 15, after that the registration is $275. Hotel rooms must be reserved by contacting the hotel directly—but the deadline to reserve a room at the Pax Christi block rate is July 18. There will be no on site registration for this National Gathering. So go to the Pax Christi USA website (www.paxchristiusa.org) to get a full program listing of all the plenary speakers and break out session presenters, download the mail in registration form (credit cards are accepted just fill in the credit card information) and also get information on reserving your hotel room. The Memorial Mass for Father Vincent R. Capodanno, MM, will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Michigan Avenue, Northeast, Washington, D.C. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the United States Military Services, will be the main celebrant. This annual Mass is celebrated in memory of Father Capodanno, killed in Vietnam on September 4, 1967, as he aided embattled Marines. Father Capodanno posthumously received the Medal of Honor, and in May 2006 the Catholic Church officially proclaimed him a Servant of God, formally initiating his cause for beatification. The Father Vincent Capodanno Guild is the only official organization set up to promote the cause for canonization of Father Capodanno. For more information, visit www.CapodannoGuild.org.
