Celebrating the month of Mary
By Catholic Review Staff
In a tradition that has spanned decades, many parishes in the Archdiocese of Baltimore celebrated the crowning of the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary during Masses the weekend of May 5-6. Traditionally, May has been a month in which to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Oftentimes, as was the case at St. Casimir in Baltimore, children lead a procession to the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and present flowers as one child lays a crown on her head.
