With the final weeks of Lent underway, Concert Artists of Baltimore and the Baltimore Archdiocese are offering an opportunity to get into the spirit through music.

Conducted by Edward Polochick, a choral and orchestral performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “The St. Matthew Passion” will be held at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore April 1 at 3 p.m. The cost is $30, or $10 for students.

The renowned composer’s masterpiece sets Matthew 26 and 27, which recount Jesus’ passion and death, to music.

The performance is dedicated to Monsignor Arthur F. Valenzano, a well-loved rector of the basilica who died in 2015.

Tickets are available at cabmusic.org, or call 410-625-3525, ext. 101.
