Dominican Sister Colleen Nolan, who taught in Baltimore, dies at 79

A funeral Mass will be offered Sept. 15 in Wisconsin for Sinsinawa Dominican Sister Colleen Nolan. Sister Colleen, a former teacher at St. Rose of Lima School in Brooklyn, died Sept. 3. She was 79.

Born in Omaha, Neb, she professed vows with the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa in 1966 and received the religious name Lillian. Sister Colleen received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Edgewood College, Madison, Wis.; a master’s degree in reading from Cardinal Stritch College, Milwaukee; and a master’s degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University of Chicago.

In addition to teaching in Baltimore, she taught in Illinois, Oklahoma and Florida.
