Sister Jeanne Albrittain, I.H.M., dies at 90

An 11 a.m. funeral Mass for Sister Jeanne Albrittain of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will be offered Aug. 7 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Dunmore, Pa. Sister Jeanne, formerly known as Sister Mary Anton, died July 23. She was 90.

Born in Leonardtown, Md., Sister Jeanne entered the IHM Congregation in 1951, made her temporary profession of vows Aug. 2, 1954, and her final profession of vows Aug. 2, 1957. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education from Marywood College in Scranton.

In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Sister Jeanne taught at St. Agnes School in Catonsville from 1957 to 1967. Elsewhere, she served in Connecticut, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York and the Archdiocese of Washington. She was a certified nurse’s aide and served at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton from 2001 to 2020. She also served on the support staff at the IHM Center in Scranton from 2020 to 2022.
