Sister Lynn Patrice Lavin, former Baltimore administrator for Sisters of St. Francis, dies at 76

A funeral Mass was offered Sept. 25 for Sister of St. Francis Lynn Patrice Lavin. The Baltimore native, who served as congregational minister for the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, died Sept. 16. She was 76 and had been a member of her order for 55 years.

Born Rita Kathleen Lavin in Baltimore, Sister Lynn Patrice was a member of St. Stephen Parish in Bradshaw and a graduate of The Catholic High School of Baltimore. She entered the congregation in 1967 and professed her first vows in 1970. She earned a bachelor’s degree. in English from Neumann University, a master’s degree in spirituality from Duquesne University, and a doctorate  in formative spirituality and counseling from what is now Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore.

A licensed therapist, she ministered primarily in consulting and counseling. She also served other religious congregations as a facilitator and consultant.

For 12 years, she ministered as provincial minister and vocation minister for the congregation’s St. Joseph Province. She also served for three years as director of the St. Joseph Family Center in Spokane, Wash.

Elsewhere, Sister Lynn Patrice ministered in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Delaware.
