A funeral Mass will be offered Oct. 17 for Sister Maureen Stout in Aston, Pa. A member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 65 years, Sister Maureen died Oct. 13. She was 86.
Sister Maureen, formerly Sister Richard Cecilia, served two years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, teaching at St. Katharine School in Southeast Baltimore (1969-70) and The Catholic High School of Baltimore (1970-71).
Elsewhere, the Philadelphia native ministered in Delaware and in Silver Spring, Md.
Sister Maureen grew up in Newark, Del. She entered the congregation in 1958 and professed her first vows in 1961.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Our Lady of Angels College, now Neumann University in Aston, Pa., and a master’s degree in education from the University of Delaware. She ministered primarily in elementary and secondary education.
A wake will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Assisi House in Pennsylvania on Oct. 17 and will be followed by an 11 a.m. funeral Mass. Both will be livestreamed at https://osfphila.org/obituaries/sister-maureen-stout.
