At the beginning of the week, I was a little nervous about the first week back to school and work after a lengthy break. Even with those concerns, I underestimated the length and complexity of this week. I figure we all need something a little light, so I thought I’d write quick takes in poetry form. So, here we go.

Is your tree still in place and all lit?
Ours is up, and we’re not set to quit.
Full of color and glow,
Decorated just so…
Take it down, and I might throw a fit.

Of quick shipping we’ve all been deprived.
Have your Christmas gifts all now arrived?
Almost all mine have come,
Including this lovely one,
Though it’s late, still my faith is revived.

For Epiphany, we could have made cake,
But instead I decided to take
A king-size Kit-Kat bar
For the kings who went far
And everyone here got a break.

Tortillas I love, as you would,
When they taste just like tortillas should,
But store them close to bananas,
And you’ll find out the plan is
That they’ll taste like bananas—not good.

A few weeks ago, I heard from John
That he’d like to try beef Bourguignon.
He researched and with great glee,
Sent this fine recipe,
Which we gobbled all down and it’s gone.

Fancy meals are not always our thing,
And most nights we don’t eat like a king.
Many meals I ad lib,
And one night served McRib.
Now we’ll see what this next week might bring.

Finches are awesome and sweet,
And they have these adorable feet.
I know you love our birds,
And who needs lots of words,
When a picture could do? Tweet, tweet, tweet!
