Archdiocese of Baltimore set to welcome 13 permanent deacons

Archbishop William E. Lori will ordain 13 men to the permanent diaconate for the Archdiocese of Baltimore May 22 during a rite at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Homeland. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the 10 a.m. Mass is by invitation only; a livestream will be available at archbalt.org. Brief biographical sketches of the men, using information supplied by the archdiocese, follow:

William Arther III

Home Parish: Holy Family, Randallstown

Family: Wife, Mary; three children; Daniel, Megan and Matthew (deceased); one grandchild

Internships:: Apostleship of the Sea; Sacred Heart, Glyndon

Did You Know? A logistics program manager for Northrop Grumman, Arther spent 30 years in the U.S. Army Rserve, including two deployments to Iraq. He came into full communion with the church in 1999.

Daniel Cajigas

Home Parish: St. Francis de Sales, Abingdon

Family: Wife, Liz; two children: Viviana and Lisandra

Internships: University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center; St. Margaret, Bel Air

Did You Know? Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Cajigas spent 25 years as a public health officer in the U.S. Air Force and Navy. He is the business manager at St. Francis de Sales.

Thomas Higgins Jr.
