Bishop Ricard suffers stroke; your prayers requested

Bishop John H. Ricard, SSJ, bishop of Penacola-Tallahassee, Fla., and former auxiliary bishop of Baltimore, was admitted to the hospital recently with a stroke. The following information was provided by the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee:

Thurs. Dec. 24, 10 a.m.: Bishop Ricard remains in serious condition. It is strongly requested that no one visit or call the bishop to help ensure that he is able to get the rest needed to aid in his recovery. Please continue to pray for him and for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him.

Wed. Dec. 23, 2:40 p.m.: Bishop Ricard’s condition has been upgraded from critical to serious. Your continued prayers are most appreciated.

On Tuesday evening, Dec. 22, Most Rev. John H. Ricard, Bishop of Pensacola-Tallahassee, was admitted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for symptoms of a stroke. A CT scan was performed and confirmed that he had suffered a stroke. The bishop is alert and resting comfortably in the Critical Intensive Care Unit of the hospital and is unable to receive visitors. Updates on his condition will be posted as available. Your prayers for his recovery are most appreciated.
