Catholic Charities of Baltimore, which has more than 80 programs providing services at 200 sites throughout Maryland, named five new members to its board of trustees Feb. 5.
The new board members bring a wealth of experience in business, management, finance, education and pharmaceuticals.
“We are so fortunate to have a committed and sage Board of Trustees, who dedicate their time, expertise and energy to helping us achieve our mission and vision,” Catholic Charities Executive Director Bill McCarthy said in a media release. “Our new board members bring additional experience, vision and passion to our work, and I’m incredibly excited about their participation.”
New board members include:
- Jason Babik is a CEO of Stabili-Teeth. He provides expertise in M&A and partnerships, private equity engagement, fundraising, financial analysis, corporate governance, and long-term strategic planning. Babik received an M.S in accounting/finance at Babson College.
- Phyllis Oddoye Bull is a board-certified clinical oncology pharmacist and is director of clinical oncology pharmacy services with LifeBridge Health. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy
- Jack Cavanaugh is a partner and senior advisor at Brown Advisory and works with a variety of private clients, family offices and institutions. He has previously served on the Catholic Charities Investment Committee and has been a member of the Audit Committee since 2011. He is a graduate of Duke University and earned his MBA at Columbia University.
- Michael R. Smith is executive vice president and chief financial officer of McCormick & Company, Inc. He served two terms on the Catholic Charities Board of Trustees from 2015 – 2022. Smith graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a BBA degree in accountancy.
- Dawn White is the vice president of gas distribution at BGE. She holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware as well as an MBA from Loyola University of Maryland.
“Our new board members are such an impressive group and will surely have an impact on the continued success of Catholic Charities,” Board President Dan Rizzo said. “We are so grateful that they have united with us in support of the Agency’s work and mission. The future is bright.”
