“This award validates that we continue to deliver on our promise of providing a great education in the Franciscan tradition for young women,” said Megan Morales, the school’s coordinator of marketing and communications, who noted the honor of earning the recognition twice.

The acknowledgement — based on a public vote — underscores the robust support from the school’s community, making it a special honor for all involved, Morales said.

To celebrate the achievement, the school organized a surprise celebration on Dec.1, bringing together the school community, including alumni, benefactors and members of the board of trustees. The morning featured performances from various arts groups, showcasing the talent of visual and performing arts students, including a dance company, chorus and the unique all-girls marching band — only the second in the nation.

Baltimore Style magazine bestowed the title of the best private high school for girls, adding an extra layer of excitement to the school’s 85th-anniversary celebrations. School administrators shared that the recognition underscores their dedication to preparing young women for the future, focusing on accomplishments in both athletics and STEM curriculum.

Dr. Barbara D. Nazelrod, the school president, and Dr. Phillip Piercy, the principal, took the stage to make the official announcement, culminating a celebration with confetti cannons.

Later, the students added a sweet touch to the festivities by celebrating with cake during lunchtime.
