The annual Maryland March for Life is set for March 16, kicking off at St. Mary in Annapolis with a 5:30 p.m. Mass celebrated by Archbishop William E. Lori in the church and a concurrent Christian prayer service in the school hall. A youth rally will precede the religious services 4:30-5:15 p.m.
Following the Mass, participants will prayerfully walk from St. Mary to Lawyer’s Mall for a rally featuring keynote speaker Mayra Rodriguez, former director of three Planned Parenthood clinics. Jonathan Alexandre, an attorney and senior counsel for governmental affairs for Liberty Counsel, will give a legislative update.
“Now more than ever is the time to advocate for the voiceless and to proclaim the dignity of all human life from natural conception until natural death,” said Collin Kourtz, director of the Office of Life, Justice and Peace within the archdiocesan Institute for Evangelization “In our post-Dobbs era, it is crucial that we make known the truths of our faith at the state level.”
At its essence, Courtz said, the march is not political.
“It is a visible act of love and solidarity with the unborn, those vulnerable to the temptation of physician-assisted suicide and all of our sisters and brothers whose God-given human dignity is threatened by misguided laws,” he said.
