Sister Maryla Farfour, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died June 20 in Scranton, Pa. She was 96.
Sister Maryla, who professed her final vows in 1958, served as a music teacher at Catholic schools in Maryland, New York, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, including during the 1976-77 academic year at St. Agnes School in Catonsville. She went on to be a principal in Greensboro, N.C., and taught at Bishop Hannon High School in Scranton, 1988-2008.
Sister Maryla had earned a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in religious education from Marywood College, and a masters’s degree in music literature from the University of Notre Dame.
