The Marriottsville-based Sisters of Bon Secours USA named Kathy Connerton as the congregation’s inaugural executive director of mission and business operations. Connerton brings more than 25 years of experience in health care administration and operations, including with Bon Secours Health System, as well as a background in law and public policy.
“The Sisters of Bon Secours have a long history of inviting lay people to help us carry out our mission,” said Sister Elaine Davia, leader of the Sisters of Bon Secours USA. “As Kathy assumes the role of executive director, we take one more step in this direction and move forward confidently. Kathy’s deep understanding of our charism and history and her overflowing compassion will help us continue to bring good help to those in need.”
For the past 12 years, Connerton served as the president of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, New York, where she has been directly responsible for growth, operations and business functions, ensuring consistent delivery of high quality of care, according to a May 1 news release. Previously, she was vice president of internal consulting at Bon Secours Health System and before that served as chief operating officer and vice president of the health system’s Venice Hospital. She began her career as an associate attorney for a law practice in Binghamton.
“The opportunity to take on this new role as the executive director is without question the most humbling and important of my life,” Connerton said. “I feel very fortunate to serve alongside the Sisters of Bon Secours. For me personally, I feel like I am coming home to a place I love. My prayer each day is that the Holy Spirit will guide our hands to carry on the work that the Sisters of Bon Secours have conducted since their founding.”
Connerton holds a law degree from the New England School of Law in Boston. She earned her Master of Public Administration and Public Policy Analysis, MBA and Bachelor of Arts in political science from Binghamton University in New York.
The Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours has its motherhouse is in Paris. It international and USA headquarters are based in Marriottsville on the same campus as the Bon Secours Retreat and Conference Center is located.
