St. Ignatius to host forum with candidates for governor

The Justice and Peace Committee at St. Ignatius in Baltimore will host a Nov. 16 discussion with some of the candidates for Maryland’s 2022 gubernatorial election. The event, scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m., will focus on a wide range of social issues pertinent to Baltimore City and Maryland at large, according to a news release from the parish.

“We believe that it is vital that constituents have as many opportunities as possible to know the stance of the candidates on issues of importance to them,” the news release said. “This event will help them to make informed decisions when they enter the voting booth.”

Invited were all candidates who had officially announced or indicated a serious consideration to run and received more than 1 percent support in available opinion polls. Rushern Baker, Peter Franchot, Doug Gansler, John King, Tom Perez and Wes Moore confirmed their availability for the conversation.

The event will be held in the church, which can accommodate up to 300 persons with social distancing considerations. Masks will be required inside the building.
