To celebrate the redesign of its newest branch location in Towson, Rosedale Federal Savings & Loan Association has made a charitable gift of $100,000 in support of University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson. Much of the donation will be used for the purchase of more than 75 digital communication tablets for patient use at UM St. Joseph, according to a recent hospital news release.
“We’re thrilled and proud to be funding an initiative to ensure that patients and family members will have the technology-at-hand so they stay connected to one another during their hospital experience,” said Kevin Benson, president and CEO of Rosedale Federal.
Rosedale Federal’s donation will also support the purchase of mobile phone chargers for patients and family members, according to the release.
“During the pandemic, we have seen just how critical devices like iPads are for patients and families who desperately want to stay in touch,” Benson said. “And, in stressful times, it’s so easy to forget necessities like your phone charger…By providing technology with a personal touch, we remain true to our core value of caring for our neighbors.”
Rosedale Federal’s charitable contribution will additionally support a Patient and Visitor Resource Center, a component of a new Hospitality Center that will open at UM St. Joseph Medical Center in 2021. Patients and families will have access to several convenient services, free of charge, including the ability to securely print, scan, copy or fax important documents related to their family member’s care. Guests will also have access to a dedicated, private computer station for further research regarding surgical procedures or health conditions.
