Sister Anna Mae Coll, O.S.F. dies at 98

An 11 a.m. funeral Mass for Franciscan Sister Anna Mae Coll, formerly Sister James Bernard, will be offered Jan. 24 at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. Sister Anna Mae died Jan. 20. She was 98 and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 77 years.

Born in Baltimore, Sister Anna Mae was a member of the Shrine of the Little Flower parish and a graduate of The Catholic High School of Baltimore. She entered the congregation in 1944 and professed her first vows in 1947. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from what was then Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg.

In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Sister Anna Mae taught at St. Stephen School in Bradsahw 1968-72 and St. Clement Mary Hofbauer School in Rosedale 1985-87. She was also an area caregiver for 14 years.

Sister Anna Mae also ministered in Delaware and the Archdiocese of Washington.
