A funeral Mass was offered Sept. 14 at Church of the Immaculate Conception in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind., for Sister of Providence Laurine Haley. Sister Laurine, who served as guidance counselor, 1972-73, and director of religious education, 1973-78, at St. Clement I, Lansdowne, died Sept. 6 at Mother Theodore Hall, St. Mary-of-the-Woods in Indiana. She was 93.
A native of Melrose, Mass., she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence in 1945 and professed her final vows in 1953. She graduated from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education and continued her studies at the University of New Hampshire, where she earned a master’s degree in elementary school counseling.
Sister Laurine also ministered for 45 years in Catholic schools in Indiana, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
