A funeral Mass for Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa Marie Anna Stelmach will be offered at 2:30 p.m. April 17 at Stair Crest Senior Living Community’s Faith and Fellowship Hall in Muskego, Wis. Sister Marie died April 8. She was 80.
Born in Baltimore, she grew up in St. Rose of Lima Parish in Brooklyn and made profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa in 1965, receiving the religious name Sister Rose de Lima.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in math and theology from Rosary College (now Dominican University), River Forest, Ill.; a Master of Divinity from Immaculate Conception Seminary, Mahwah, N.J.; a master’s degree in in theology from Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.; and a nursing degree from Bon Secours Memorial School of Nursing, Richmond, Va.
Sister Marie ministered in Illinois, California, Wisconsin, New York, Bolivia, Spain, Louisiana, Hawaii, Washington, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
