Sister Mary Frances Ambs dies at 88

Sister Mary Frances Ambs, a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary who taught at St. Agnes Elementary School, Catonsville, in the 1960s, died March 14 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 88.

The Sister of the Immaculate Heart of Mary served as a teacher for more than 50 years at various elementary schools in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York. After her retirement in 2010, she served as a prayer minister at the IHM Center and Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton.

Sister Mary Frances was born in 1932 in Dushore, Pa., and professed her vows in 1956. She was formerly known as Sister M. Frances Cabrini. 

Because of restrictions related to the coronavirus, the funeral mass and graveside service are private. The funeral was to be live-streamed at 11 a.m. March 19 at https://video.ibm.com/channel.ihm-tv.
