Sister Natalie McCubbin, D.C., dies at 97

A funeral Mass for Daughter of Charity Sister Natalie (Margaret Isabelle) McCubbin was offered Dec. 7 at the Basilica of the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg. Sister Natalie died Nov. 30. She was 97.

Born in Baltimore, Sister Natalie grew up in St. John the Evangelist in Baltimore. She graduated from Seton High School in Baltimore in 1944 and entered the Daughters of Charity in 1945. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary science from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg and a master’s degree in elementary education administration and supervision from what is now Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore.    

Sister Natalie taught at St. Euphemia School, Emmitsburg (1952-1955) and was principal of Our Lady of Lourdes School in Baltimore (1972-1973) and Mother Seton School in Emmitsburg (1973-1979). She was business manager of Seton High School (1980-81).

Sister Natlie served the retired sisters at Villa St. Michael in Emmitsburg (1992-2000). In 2008, she was missioned to Villa St. Michael where she served in prayer ministry until her death. 

Elsewhere, she served in Massachusetts, North Carolina, West Virginia, Florida and Virginia.
