Sister Rosemary Dilli, S.S.N.D., Catholic school administrator, dies at 89

School Sister of Notre Dame Rosemary T. Dilli, a professed member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame for 69 years and a former Catholic school educator, died at Villa Assumpta in Baltimore Sept. 9. She was 89.

Born in Baltimore, Sister Rosemary was the daughter of the late Mary T. Dilli and the late, John J. Dilli, Sr. former head of Publication Press Printing Company and president of the Baltimore Archdiocesan Union of the Holy Name Society. The family lived in the parish of St. Anthony of Padua in Baltimore.

A graduate of the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore, Sister Rosemary was the principal of Notre Dame Preparatory School’s lower school from 1968 to 1971 and a teacher and vice principal of Archbishop Keogh High School from 1973 to 1976.

Sister Rosemary was also the program director of Baltimore’s Catholic Charities in the mid-1970s and later served as provincial treasurer for the School Sisters of Notre Dame Baltimore Province and the director of facilities and assistant treasurer for Notre Dame Preparatory School. She also served as the administrative assistant to the president of the Institute of Notre Dame.

Elsewhere, Sister Rosemary served New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C. and New York.. She also taught at the International School in Rome.

Sister Rosemary, also known as Sister Mary Donna, held a bachelor’s degree in English and elementary education from the College of the Sacred Heart, Santurce,  Puerto Rico and a master’s degree in English from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1973.

A Memorial Mass will be offered at a later date.
