Comcast Corporation has donated 50 laptops and $15,000 to Catholic Charities of Baltimore Feb. 23 to assist individuals in the Baltimore area in need of work and computer literacy.
These computers will be used for building résumés, searching job opportunities, conducting virtual interviews, working virtually, developing greater computer literacy skills and more.
Catholic Charities supports individuals with skills assessment, job placement, job retention and opportunities for advancement.
Comcast Corporation, a global media and technology company, has committed $1 billion to reach 50 million people through its Project Up initiative.
The campaign enhances advanced digital equity through programs and community partnerships that connect people to the internet, advance economic mobility and open doors for innovators, entrepreneurs, storytellers and creators.
“We are proud to partner with Catholic Charities to help members of the Baltimore community get online, access skills development courses and jumpstart career opportunities,” Misty Allen, vice president of government and regulatory affairs for Comcast’s Beltway Region, noted in a Feb. 23 news release.
Bill McCarthy Jr., Catholic Charities’ executive director, said his organization “meets neighbors where they are to accompany them in any way we can in their journey toward meaningful work and financial stability.”
“We are thankful to have a partner like Comcast in the community. Donations like this allow us to extend our reach and impact for our neighbors,” he added.
Catholic Charities provided job training for 203 individuals, of whom 110 found work, through Catholic Charities programs during Fiscal Year 2021.
