Catholic Charities of Baltimore announced Oct. 29 that Annemarie Reilly will serve as the agency’s chief strategy officer, a newly created position.

The leadership role, which Reilly will begin Nov. 16, will help translate Catholic Charities’ mission and long-term priorities into coordinated action across the agency, according to an Oct. 29 news release.

Her responsibilities include guiding strategic planning and execution, strengthening organizational development and performance and working with leaders to increase engagement of stakeholders.

“Annemarie brings exceptional experience leading strategy and complex operations in service to people and communities around the world,” said Dave Kinkopf, executive director of Catholic Charities, in the news release. “Her collaborative leadership and commitment to human dignity will help us build on our strengths, sharpen our priorities and expand our impact for Marylanders.”

Before joining Catholic Charities, Reilly spent three decades with Baltimore-based Catholic Relief Services. Reilly had a variety of humanitarian, development and operational roles with CRS and served in El Salvador, Haiti, Burundi, Liberia, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia and the United States.

Most recently, she served as executive vice president for global operations at CRS, overseeing human resources, supply chain management, information and communications technology, legal, strategy and organization development.

“I am excited and honored to join Catholic Charities and to serve the organization’s vital mission in the archdiocese I call home,” Reilly said in the news release. “I look forward to listening, learning and working alongside colleagues throughout the agency to strengthen the ways we serve our neighbors.”

Reilly holds a bachelor’s degree in government and French from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, with specializations in economic and political development and Latin American studies.

Following the retirement of Advocacy Director Val Twanmoh, Catholic Charities is also restructuring its program and advocacy functions. Oversight of programs and advocacy support will be consolidated under Chief Operations Officer Ashley Valis. Valis has served as COO for five years and previously was assistant chief to former Maryland Gov. Martin J. O’Malley.
