Archbishop Lori invites all to watch a livestream of the Chrism Mass September 10, 2020By Archbishop William E. Lori Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News Sept. 10, 2020 Dear Friends in Christ, On Monday, Sept.14, at 7:30 p.m. our archdiocese will finally join together in celebrating our long-postponed Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. Since attendance will be limited, we will also livestream the Mass, and I warmly encourage you to join with us in spirit as we participate in this important ceremony. At the Chrism Mass, usually celebrated on the Monday prior to Easter, I consecrate the Holy Chrism and bless the other oils used in the sacramental life of the Church. It is a moment rich in significance, for while I cannot personally baptize, confirm or anoint each of you, my blessing of these oils highlights our unity as a community of faith and service to one another. This Mass also acknowledges the ministry of our priests. It invites them to renew their commitments of service and to receive the prayers and support of the people. After these past months of separation and disruption, it is a joy to hold this celebration in honor of our priests who have worked so hard to keep their parish communities spiritually connected and supported. Again, please join us Monday at 7:30 pm by tuning in to the livestream of the Mass on our website at www.archbalt.org or on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ArchBalt. (The livestream will also be posted at the bottom of this letter). Let us gather together in spirit to rejoice in the gift of one another and in the presence of our savior Jesus Christ.
