Former Dundalk teacher dies at 75 November 22, 2017By Catholic Review Staff Filed Under: Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass for Sister Ann Grayeski, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, was offered Nov. 21 in Scranton, Pa. Sister Ann died Nov. 17 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, at age 75. Her ministry included teaching at the former St. Rita School in Dundalk. Sister Ann (formerly Sister Ann Dolora) was born in Scranton. She entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Congregation in 1961, and made her final profession of vows in 1969. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in mathematics education from Marywood College. In addition to her time in Dundalk, Sister Ann taught in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland and Connecticut. Sister Ann held other positions in Pennsylvania, including with Friends of the Poor in Carbondale, Pa. In March, she began prayer ministry at Our Lady of Peace Residence. In an obituary prepared by her order, Sister Ann was remembered as “a woman who was deeply devoted to helping others, especially the poor or those who were suffering in some way.” She was involved with St. Ann’s Basilica in Scranton and hospital ministry, where she took Communion to nursing home residents and visited shut-ins; was a talented artist; and was passionate about social justice issues and local politics.
