Archbishop Lori launches podcast on renewing civic life and the political culture

Archbishop William E. Lori launched a new podcast series June 15, “In Charity and Truth,” building on the themes he wrote about in his February 2026 pastoral letter, “In Charity and Truth: Toward a Renewed Political Culture.”

In the first episode, the archbishop interviewed Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop emeritus of New York, on the theme of Catholics and the American story.

Cardinal Dolan argued that history is essential – not merely as a record of the past, but as a living source of wisdom and spiritual insight. He traced the Catholic presence in America from the Spanish and French missions through founding-era figures such as Bishop John Carroll and Cardinal James Gibbons, who demonstrated that Catholic faith and American patriotism are deeply compatible, not in conflict.

Looking toward America’s 250th anniversary, Cardinal Dolan urged Catholics to recover their history, deepen their spiritual identity and recommit to the conviction that human dignity flows from God – not from government.

Excerpts from the first podcast will be featured in an upcoming Catholic Review Radio episode set to air July 19 on WMET 1160 AM and 103.1 FM (serving parts of Anne Arundel, Howard and Frederick counties in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, as well as the Washington, D.C. market) at 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. It will also be broadcast on WSJF 92.7 FM (serving Eldersburg/Sykesville in Carroll County) at 11:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. It will be posted July 20 as a podcast.

Catholic Review Media produces the archbishop’s podcast, which is available on the archdiocesan and Catholic Review websites as well as Apple Podcasts, Alexa and other streaming platforms.
