Baltimore native Sister Mary Olivia Baranoski, C.S.S.F., dies at 86

A funeral Mass was offered at the Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel in Lodi, N.J., for Felician Sister Mary Olivia Baranoski, who died Jan. 23 at age 86.

Born in Baltimore, Sister Mary Olivia attended Holy Rosary School. She entered the Felician Sisters after her graduation in 1949. She professed her final vows in 1957, and spent 69 years serving mostly in education ministry.

Sister Mary Olivia earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Seton Hall University in New Jersey and a master’s degree in arts and communication from Notre Dame University in Indiana.

She spent eight years at the Felician Sisters’ mission in Pao Pauli, Brazil; served as a teacher and vice principal at schools in New Jersey; and as the director of the Promise Outreach and the Straight and Narrow Program.
