Calvert Hall announces construction project June 11, 2026By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News, Schools Calvert Hall College High School and The Huffman Family Foundation have announced the start of construction on a new $800,000 renovation project that will reimagine existing space in Keelty Hall as a modern hub for academics and athletics. The Huffman Family Sports Performance Center will transform former locker room areas adjacent to the Alumni Memorial Gymnasium into a multi-purpose facility designed to serve students throughout the school day and into the athletic hours that follow. The project, made possible through financial support of Richie and Dawn Huffman and The Huffman Family Foundation, reflects what school leaders described in a news release as a shared investment in the future of the Towson school and its student experience. The renovated space will be divided into three primary areas. An 80-seat lecture hall will provide additional classroom capacity during the academic day and double as a team meeting space in the afternoon and evening hours. A dedicated golf training area will house a previously donated golf simulator, offering the school’s golf program a year-round development resource. The third component will modernize locker room facilities for physical education classes and athletic teams. “As a mother and president of The Huffman Family Foundation, I am always seeking opportunities to create a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of young people,” Dawn Huffman said in the release. “The Calvert Hall community holds a special place in our family’s heart. Richie and I are excited to continue returning to this amazing school and witnessing the positive influence this project will have on generations of students.” De La Salle Christian Brother John Kane, president of Calvert Hall, emphasized the family’s long-standing connection to the school and the significance of the gift. “We are grateful for the extraordinary generosity of The Huffman Family Foundation,” he said. “Richie and Dawn understand firsthand the lifelong impact of a Calvert Hall education through the experiences of their sons — Olen ’20, Evan ’22, Preston ’24, and Camden ’28 — each forging his own path while sharing in the same Brotherhood that defines The Hall. Their investment in this visionary new addition will make an immediate and lasting impact on our students, faculty, and future generations of Cardinals.” For Huffman Family Foundation Founder and CEO Richie Huffman, the decision to support the project came quickly when the opportunity arose. “Dawn and I knew that we had to jump on the chance to give back,” Huffman said. “This project is going to enrich a space for a community that means so much to our family. Not only will the revamping of this space at Calvert Hall provide an academic advantage for the students, but it will also serve to enhance the experience for the student athletes at the school. Being a student-athlete has been such an added benefit for our sons’ high school experience, and I am proud to help create opportunities that will positively impact future generations of Cardinals.” Director of Athletics Dan Mulford, a 2005 alumnus, said the center will elevate both the academic and athletic dimensions of campus life. “In addition to creating more academic class space for our students, this transformational facility will redefine the student-athlete experience at The Hall,” Mulford said. “Featuring state-of-the-art locker rooms, dedicated team strategy and meeting spaces, and a cutting-edge golf simulator, this premier addition will fuel excellence, strengthen team culture, and elevate our athletic programs to new heights.” Construction is expected to be completed prior to the start of the 2026–27 academic year.
