Catholic End-of-Life Conference coming to Clarksville August 31, 2026By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, Maryland Catholic Conference, News, Respect Life A Catholic conference designed to help families navigate some of the most difficult decisions surrounding the end of life is coming to Clarksville. “In Joyful Hope: A Catholic End-of-Life Conference” will take place Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Louis in Clarksville. The half-day event will bring together Catholic perspectives on the ethical, legal, medical, financial and spiritual questions that often arise at the end of life. The goal is to help Catholics and their families plan ahead and approach these decisions with greater clarity and confidence. Jenny Kraska, executive director of the Maryland Catholic Conference, will discuss Maryland’s changing legislative landscape, including advance directives, physician-assisted suicide, end-of-life laws and legislative advocacy. Garrett Schiche, senior director of the Catholic Community Foundation, will offer practical advice on legacy planning, with a presentation titled “How to Not Leave a Mess: Practical Legacy Planning for Families and Loved Ones.” The conference intends to give participants both practical tools and a Catholic framework for thinking about end-of-life decisions – helping families prepare before a crisis occurs and navigate difficult circumstances with faith and hope. “In Joyful Hope” is open to anyone interested in learning more about Catholic teaching and practical preparation for end-of-life care and planning.
