Friends of Mercy to hold final dinner September 1, 2011By Catholic Review Filed Under: Local News, News Friends of Mercy (FOM), an all-volunteer nondenominational membership support group for those dealing with broken relationships, separation, divorce or widowhood, is dissolving. The organization began when Mercy High School alumnae began to experience separation and divorce in their own lives and looked Mercy for guidance. In early 1980, Mercy Sister Joannes Clifford began a fall and spring lecture series that provided insights from professional speakers on coping with ended relationships. She was the driving force behind the founding of FOM. A final celebration will be held Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Sheppard Pratt Conference Center in Towson. Father Joseph Breighner will celebrate a Mass, followed by a dinner. Tickets are $30. Checks must be received by Sept. 10. Make checks payable to Friends of Mercy or FOM and mail to FOM, Tim Fay, 5537 Todd Avenue, Baltimore MD 21206-3722. Include your phone number or email address on the check for confirmation. There will be no ticket sales at the door. The Catholic Review will have more on FOM in a coming issue. Print
