Sister Frances Schiminsky, O.S.F., dies at 95 October 22, 2024By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass for Franciscan Sister Frances Schiminsky (formerly Sister Ann Philip), will be offered Oct. 25 at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. Sister Frances died Oct. 21. She was 95 and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 76 years. Born in Baltimore, Sister Frances was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Essex. She entered the congregation in 1946 and professed her first vows in 1948. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Neumann University (then Our Lady of Angels College) in Aston. Sister Frances ministered for a total of 51 years in her native Archdiocese of Baltimore. She spent 26 years in education teaching at St. Joseph School, Fullerton; St. Stephen’s School, Bradshaw; Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Essex; and St. Pius X School, Rodgers Forge. Later she served in parish ministry for an additional 24 years at St. Clement Mary Hofbauer in Rosedale and St. Patrick in Havre de Grace. Elsewhere, Sister Frances served in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Washington, D.C.. r Franciscan family.
