Sister Jane Meehan, IHM, former Catonsville teacher, dies

A funeral Mass will be offered for Sister, Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Jane Meehan (formerly Sister Annmarie) at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa., Feb. 10.  The former St. Agnes School teacher died Feb. 4, eight days before her 90th birthday.

A native of Pennsylvania, Sister Jane entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1948, and made her final vows in 1954.  She received her bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in counselor/secondary education from Marywood University.

Sister Jane taught in the Archdiocese of Baltimore at St. Agnes School in Catonsville from 1957 to 1963. She also served as a teacher and guidance counselor at schools in New York, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
