In celebration of the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore will host a Marian conference Oct. 6-7.
Dominican Father Patrick Briscoe, former editor-in-chief of the English edition of Aleteia and a popular author and podcaster, will be the featured guest speaker.
The conference begins with eucharistic adoration and opportunities for the sacrament of reconciliation Oct. 6 at 6 p.m.
Mass will follow at 7 p.m., along with a presentation on “The Blessed Mother: Her Freedom, Her Genius and Her Beauty.” The day will conclude with small-group discussions and compline, followed by eucharistic adoration in the upper church until 9 a.m. the following morning.
Confessions will again be heard Oct. 7 at 8 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. Mass and the praying of the rosary. Saturday’s talk will begin at 10 a.m. on “Our Lady’s Sword and the Battle for Salvation,” followed by small-group discussions and lunch. Nick Higgins will lead praise and worship music at 1 p.m. A presentation on “Mary and the Victory of Evil” will be featured at 1:30 p.m., followed by small group discussions.
A Marian procession in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary will begin at 3 p.m., and closing prayers inside the basilica will be offered at 4 p.m.
Father Briscoe is a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., and joined the Order of Preachers in 2010. He completed his initial studies in theology at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., where he earned a licentiate in moral theology. He is a eucharistic preacher, a work he has undertaken to support the U.S. bishops’ Eucharistic Revival, and is the editor of Our Sunday Visitor newsweeky.
