Archdiocesan Pastoral Council seeks applicants June 13, 2022By George P. Matysek Jr. Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News The Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, established by Archbishop William E. Lori in 2019 to facilitate dialogue between the archbishop and the laity of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, is seeking applications to fill four positions on the 13-member consultative body. Yvonne Wenger, archdiocesan director of community affairs, noted that the four positions include the at-large representative of the young adult community, a parishioner from Baltimore and two parishioners from Western Maryland. Members should be regular participants in the sacramental and community life of their parish, accepting of the teachings of the Catholic Church, and possess experience in prayerful discernment and excellent interpersonal skills, Wenger said. Members of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council attend quarterly meetings at rotating locations throughout the archdiocese. They provide counsel on major initiatives of the archdiocese and establish regular contact with the local Catholic community to identify areas of focus or concerns of the laity to be relayed to the archbishop. They are also responsible for remaining up-to-date on current issues affecting the archdiocese and the global church through relevant publications and social media. The new members of the council, who will serve three-year terms, will succeed four members completing their terms: Richard Babbitt, central representative in the western vicariate and a parishioner of John the Evangelist in Frederick; Camilla Rawe, western representative in the western vicariate and a parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish at St. Ann Church, Grantsville; Jesús Eusebio Perez, harbor/metro east representative in the urban vicariate and a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus/Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in Highlandtown; and Chelsea Baranoski, at-large young adult community representative and a parishioner of St. Jane Frances de Chantal in Pasadena.
