Atlanta hospital executive to lead Ascension Saint Agnes in Baltimore July 9, 2020By Catholic Review Staff Filed Under: Local News, News Ascension Saint Agnes in Baltimore has named veteran healthcare executive Ed Lovern as its new president and CEO. Lovern is currently the chief operating officer at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, the flagship hospital of Piedmont Healthcare. He previously worked as the Washington Bureau Chief for Modern Healthcare magazine and served in leadership roles at Ascension Borgess in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Chris Chekouras, who had been serving as interim president and CEO for the Catholic hospital based in Southwest Baltimore, will step down when Lovern assumes his new role on July 20 “We are excited to have Ed join our ministry and know that his deep experience and commitment to our Mission, in partnership with Ascension Saint Agnes associates, caregivers and providers, will serve the community well as we provide care for those most in need,” said John Wheeler, the chairman of the board at Ascension Saint Agnes.
