Mary Clifford Morrell

Born and raised in Albany, N.Y., Mary Clifford Morrell is a Catholic journalist, editor, columnist and author who has served the Dioceses of Metuchen and Trenton, New Jersey; Burlington, Vermont, and RENEW International in the areas of communication and religious education. She is a freelance contributor to the Catholic Review in Baltimore.
Mother of six and grandmother of 10, Mary lives in New Jersey and was part of a team of transcribers who recently completed the transcriptions of Dorothy Day’s 6,800-page diary and 500 of her most historically significant letters as part of the process for sainthood. Mary holds a bachelor’s degree from Siena College, Loudonville, N.Y., and a master’s degree from Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.

Liturgical Commission reestablished to advance liturgical life in Archdiocese of Baltimore

Following a hiatus of several years, the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Liturgical Commission is back. The reboot, which took effect in May, is partially related to the U.S. bishops’ National Eucharistic Revival and the need for ongoing formation and teaching about the liturgy – especially the Eucharist, according to Monsignor Richard Hilgartner, pastor of St. Joseph in Cockeysville and a member of the commission.

Former Speaker of Maryland’s House of Delegates Casper R. Taylor Jr., a frequent supporter of Catholic legislative concerns in state government and a former member of the administrative board of the Maryland Catholic Conference, died April 24. He was 88.
