Brother Gallagher, who taught at St. Frances Academy, dies at 93

De La Salle Christian Brother Edward Gallagher, who taught at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore from 1987-1992 and 1999-2008, died Dec. 17. He was 93.

Brother Edward, a Philadelphia native, entered the Ammendale Novitiate in 1947 and pronounced his vows in 1955.

In addition to St. Frances, he had teaching assignments at De La Salle College in Washington; Saint Francis Vocational in Eddington, Pa.; Saint John’s College High School in Washington; La Salle College High School in Wydmoor, Pa.; La Salle Green Hills in Manila, Philippines; West Catholic High School for Boys in Philadelphia; and West Catholic High School in Yeadon, Pa.

Visitation (4-7 p.m.) and a funeral Mass (7 p.m.) will be held Jan. 4 at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pa.. A prayer service and interment will be held Jan. 6, 11:30 a.m., at La Salle Hall, 6001 Ammendale Road, Beltsville, MD 20705.
