Calvert Hall campaign brings in $21.5 million October 10, 2022By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News, Schools Calvert Hall College High School announced that its “Hall 175” campaign has surpassed 75 percent of its $28 million goal. The announcement was made Oct. 6 by Christian Brother John Kane during the President’s Reception at the Towson-based Catholic high school run by the De La Salle Christian Brothers since its founding in Baltimore in 1845. “We have now raised $21.5 million toward our goal of $28 million for Hall 175 – The Campaign for Calvert Hall,” Brother John, the school’s president, said in an Oct. 6 news release. “Hall 175,” the most ambitious fundraising initiative in Calvert Hall’s history, launched in 2019 to commemorate the school’s 175th anniversary. Since then, thousands of alumni and their spouses, parents and grandparents, and friends of Calvert Hall have contributed. The campaign has 115 commitments of $25,000 or more – and four of at least $1 million. “Hall 175 is a call to action – and we are grateful that the Calvert Hall community is responding with great generosity,” Brother John said. “These funds will help us meet the needs of our students and the expectations of their families. They will help us build onto our tradition of excellence as we prepare the men of the Hall to be successful leaders.” The Hall 175 campaign’s goal is to elevate the endowment from $12 million to at least $31.5 million. The enhanced endowment will provide more funds for scholarships, needs-based tuition assistance, and faculty support, including additional resources for extensive extracurricular programs. Forty-five new named scholarship endowments and two new distinguished chairs have been created by campaign donors. Donations also have bolstered capital projects. “The remarkable generosity of the campaign’s donors has enabled us to make cutting-edge enhancements to our facilities,” said Board Chair Jeff Nattans, a Class of 1985 Hall alumnus. The campaign has supported an array of projects, including a theater lobby; music rooms; a STEM lab; training room expansion and athletic facility upgrades. “More donors than ever are participating in All Day Hall Day – and, giving to The Hall Fund all through the year is stronger than ever,” said Joe Baker ’76, head of the school’s advancement office. The funds provide unrestricted funds to support the school’s annual operations and restricted funds for tuition assistance, scholarships and student-support programs.
