The Baltimore Catholic Campaign for Human Development will hold its 43rd annual archdiocesan Social Ministry Convocation virtually March 26, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Monsignor Richard Bozzelli, local director of CCHD, will open the convocation with a welcome message, prayer and introduction of the 2022 theme, “50 years of CCHD: Rooted in Justice.”

This year’s keynote speaker will be Auxiliary Bishop Bruce A. Lewandowski, C.Ss.R., urban vicar and episcopal vicar for Hispanic Catholics.

The convocation will feature nine workshops, a social ministry fair and an awards ceremony.

The titles of the workshops offered are the following:

·         Year one of the Maryland Catholic Labor Network;

·         We are all part of God’s Plan(et): The U.S. Church’s Commitment to Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ Action Plan on the Care for Our Common Home (offered in English and Spanish);

·         CCHD – Dreams from the past and dreams for the future;

·         ABCs of social justice;

·         Dreaming of a Church that is inclusive and welcoming to LGBTQ+ Catholics;

·         Rooted in justice: Together beyond our parish;

·         Right to counsel for renters;

·         Accompanying the global migrant;

·         Equity now: Unconscious bias and Baltimore’s equity mission.

Recipients of several awards will be announced, including the Bishop P. Francis Murphy Social Ministry Recognition Awards, the John Hook Parish Award, the Doris Johnson Community Award and the International Peace and Justice Award.

Students, staff, families and those involved in social justice ministries are encouraged to attend. The suggested donation is $10 and scholarships are available. Zoom and YouTube recordings will be available after the event.

All participants must register online at www.archbaltsmc.org
