A funeral Mass for Redemptorist Father John Clark Devin will be offered Dec. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stella Maris Chapel in Timonium. Father Devin died Dec. 11. He was 92.

Born in Boston, Father Devin completed his Redemptorist novitiate at St. Mary’s in Ilchester, where he professed temporary vows on Aug. 2, 1953. He professed his final vows Sep. 2, 1956 at Mount St. Alphonsus Seminary in Esopus, N.Y., where he was also ordained to the priesthood on June 22, 1958.

Father Devin completed additional training at St. Mary’s, Annapolis, (1959-1960) and, having excelled in Portuguese, was assigned to the Brazilian mission in the Vice-Province of Campo Grande where, over a period of 23 years, he served in Campo Grande, Curitiba, Ponta Pora, Ponta Grossa, Telemaco Borba and Paranagua. His ministerial responsibilities there included parishes, mission preaching, the Cursillo Movement and Christian Base Communities.

In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Father Devin was an associate pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Highlandtown and assist at the former nearby chapels of St. Gerard and Holy Redeemer from 1987 to 1988. Elsewhere, he served in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. He resided at the St. John Neumann Residence at Stella Maris in Timonium since 2022.
