Redemptorist Father Stephen Vanyo dies at 88 August 14, 2024By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass for Redemptorist Father Stephen Vanyo was offered June 6 in Brazil, where the priest had devoted decades of ministry. Father Vanyo died June 5. He was 88. Born in Annapolis, Father Vanyo made his first profession of religious vows as a Redemptorist of the Baltimore Province in 1957. He was ordained a priest June 17, 1962. Father Vanyo served as a missionary to Brazil throughout his priesthood, building churches and providing pastoral ministry. Beginning in 2011 Father Vanyo was the chaplain of the Sisters of the Copious Redemption.
