Sister Anne Conrad Koerner, O.S.F., dies at 94

A funeral Mass from Franciscan Sister Anne Conrad Koerner will be offered at 11 a.m. on Dec. 7 at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. Sister Anne Conrad died Nov. 30. She was 94 and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 73 years. 

Born Carmelia Madeline Koerner born in Baltimore, Sister Anne Conrad was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Highlandtown and a graduate of The Catholic High School of Baltimore. 

She entered the congregation in 1946 and professed her first vows in 1949. She earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Fordham University. During her early years in the congregation, she ministered in elementary education but after becoming a registered pharmacist, she ministered in healthcare.

Sister Anne Conrad’s 19 years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore began with teaching at St. Vincent’s School. In later years, she ministered at what is now University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson.

She also ministered in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.
