Sister Barbara Barry, O.S.F., dies at 89 February 26, 2024By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass for Franciscan Sister Barbara Barry will be offered March 8 at St. Francis Convent in St. Francis, Wis. Sister Barbara (formerly known as Sister Agnes) died Jan. 27. She was 89. Born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., Sister Barbara entered the Franciscan Sisters of Baltimore in 1997 following the death of her husband, Deacon George Barry, with whom she raised five children. She had become acquainted with the religious community when she worked at the Franciscan Center in Baltimore. Sister Barbara professed first vows in 2000 and final vows in 2003. In 2001 the Franciscan Sisters of Baltimore merged with the Wisconsin-based Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi. In May 2019, Sister Barbara moved to St. Francis Convent in St. Francis, Wis. In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Sister Barbara served at the Franciscan Center and was the local treasurer from 2014 to 2019 at Clare Court Convent in Baltimore.
