Elsa Eckenrode of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Jan. 17 in Scranton, Pa. She would have been 99 on Jan. 27. Born Elizabeth Regina in Cresson, Pa., Sister Elsa entered the IHM Congregation in 1943, professing her final vows in 1949. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English/social sciences from Marywood College in Scranton. In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Sister Elsa taught at St. Agnes School in Catonsville from 1967 to 1969.
