Sister Margaret John Kelly, D.C., dies at 88 December 15, 2022By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass for Daughter of Charity Sister Margaret John Kelly was offered Dec. 3 at the Basilica of the Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg. Sister Margaret John (Rose Marie) died Nov. 24 at Villa St. Michael in Emmitsburg. She was 88. Born in Strafford, Pa., Sister Margaret John earned a bachelor’s degree in English from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg in 1956. She earned a master’s degree in English from St. John’s University in Jamaica, N.Y., in 1964 and a doctorate in English in 1967. In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, she taught at St. Joseph College (1967-1973). In 2015, she was missioned to Villa St. Michael in Emmitsburg, where she assisted in the Vincentian Translation Project and entered into prayer ministry. Elsewhere, she ministered in Massachusetts, Missouri, New York and the Archdiocese of Washington.
