Sister Mary Ann (formerly Sister Nicholas) died Jan. 7. She was 89 and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 69 years. Born in Philadelphia, Sister Mary Ann entered the congregation in 1951 and professed her first vows in 1953. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg. Sister Mary Ann ministered mostly in Pennsylvania and Delaware, but also spent eight years in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, serving in education at St. Elizabeth School and the Shrine of the Little Flower School in Baltimore.
