‘Tolton: From Slave to Priest’ to be performed in Baltimore

‘Tolton: From Slave to Priest,’ a multi-media live production, is coming to the Archdiocese of Baltimore in September.

The inspiring performance, filled with music and drama, tells the story of Father Augustus Tolton, a former slave who became the first publicly recognized African-American priest in the United States. Father Tolton was ordained in 1886 in Rome because no U.S. seminary would take him. He ministered in the Archdiocese of Chicago and his cause for canonization is now being considered in Rome.

Presented by Saint Luke Productions, the performance features Jim Coleman in the title role. 

Admission will be a free-will offering at all performances, which are suitable for ages 10 and up. All performances are open to the public. See below for a schedule of performances and a preview.
