Sister Janice Marie Hallacher, former principal of Catholic High, dies at 92 July 27, 2024By Catholic Review Staff Catholic Review Filed Under: Feature, Local News, News, Obituaries A funeral Mass for Franciscan Sister Janice Marie Hallacher (formerly Sister Victor) was offered July 26 at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. Sister Janice died July 23. She was 92 and had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 72 years. Sister Janice was born in Lancaster, Pa. She entered religious life in 1949 and professed her first vows in 1952. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education and a masters degree in mathematics, both from Villanova University. She ministered primarily in education and administration. In the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Sister Janice served two years as principal of The Catholic High School of Baltimore. Elsewhere, ministered in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, including 67 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She was a former member of her order’s provincial council and was an associate professor at Neumann University for five years before serving in her congregational archives for 26 years.
